More than 60 artists will take part in Modern Art tonight in downtown Boise. This year artists, who do everything from fine art to performance, will take over more than 30 rooms at the Modern Hotel.

Amy O’Brien is one of the curators for this event. She has some advice for people who’ve never been to Modern Art before. “I would say be prepared to be completely entertained and expect the unexpected.”

Ballet Idaho premieres Swan Lake tonight. Here’s what you need to know about this classic ballet. There’s Prince Siegfried. He falls in love with a beautiful woman named Odette, who’s actually trapped in the body of a swan.

Phyllis Rothwell Affrunti dances the part of Odette. The lead dancer calls her character “fragile,” a beautiful creature that has been imprisoned as a swan by the evil wizard Von Rothbart. “She’s waiting for true love to come to save her,” explains Affrunti. “It’s the only thing that can.”

State Senators honored Idaho Public Television’s general manager Peter Morrill Tuesday. He'll retire later this year after 34 years at the station. Morrill sat with his family in the gallery above the Senate. He listened as the leader of the Senate, Brent Hill, thanked him for his service.

Federal Land Transfer Clears Another Hurdle In Idaho Statehouse

Idaho is following other western states including Utah that have taken on the issue of transferring federal lands to state control. Utah’s governor last year signed off on a measure supporting this. Now Idaho lawmakers have given the green light on a resolution to do the same.

Republican Sen. Jeff Siddoway Tuesday reminded his colleagues this is a resolution that doesn’t have legally binding teeth.

NPR reports Friday the Department will again consider criminal charges in a case of a boy who died in a grain bin three years ago in Illinois.

Idaho has had its share of tragedies in grain bins.

The Sun Valley Film Festival gets underway today with its first ever Screenwriters Lab. Writer and actor Will McCormack will lead the three hour discussion. You might recognize McCormack from a few appearances on the Sopranos or the film Syriana.

But lately this actor turned screenwriter is best known for his breakout movie Celeste and Jesse Forever. He wrote that film with Rashida Jones who appears on the sitcom Parks and Recreation.
