Tamara Ansotegui

Host/Producer

I am the producer and host of Open Range Radio, Boise State Public Radio’s early Saturday morning free-form mix of new and old folk, blues, and rock. In every show, you will hear new artists, deep cuts, and musical icons who have lost their place on commercial radio.

I discovered the magic of live radio in 1983 when as a Boise State University undergraduate, I first stepped into the little house on University Avenue that served as Boise’s 40-watt, student run, 24-hour community radio station. For three years, I learned the ropes as On-Air Host, Operations Director, then Music Director. Through the station’s vast library and knowledgeable hosts and listeners, I developed a wide-ranging appreciation for music and musicians. Twenty-five years later, I returned to Boise and to the Boise State Public Radio airwaves with Open Range Radio.

Outside of the studio, I am an elementary school teacher in Idaho City, co-owner with Dan and Ellie Ansotegui, of Ansots Basque Chorizos and Catering, and an Idaho Humanities Council Trustee.
