The unofficial elections results are in for a vote that took place throughout the Treasure Valley Tuesday, determining who would fill the two available seats on the board of the Greater Boise Auditorium District, or GBAD.
There were four candidates in the race competing for the two open seats. Kristin Muchow secured a spot, receiving 40% of the votes, and incumbent Hy Kloc followed close behind, with 38% of the votes. The other two candidates, Scott Mecham and incumbent Judy Peavey-Derr did not win seats.
According to Ada County Elections, there are about 133,000 registered voters in the Greater Boise Auditorium District, but a scant 5.4% participated in the election. The five members of the board decide how to spend the district’s money, collected in hotel and motel taxes, and are responsible for the operations of the Boise Centre.
The next GBAD meeting is Tuesday, May 23, when Muchow and Kloc will be sworn into their positions and begin their six-year terms.
