Idaho Gets New Commerce Director
Boise, ID - Idaho has a new commerce director. Jeff Sayer accepted the governor’s appointment Thursday. Sayer is an accountant and business consultant. He’s been president of an Idaho Falls hospital and has worked in the tech industry. Sayer says he has a lot to learn about the Department of Commerce before he can make specific plans.
Jeff Sayer “Our focus will likely be first on helping existing companies in the state grow and expand. And then we’ll start reaching out to companies outside the state and start telling our story, because I think we have a great story to tell. And there are a lot of reasons why companies would want to come to our state.”
Sayer takes on a big challenge with his appointment. The department of Commerce lists as its first mission - creating jobs. He takes over for Don Dietrich who left the department to return to the private sector. Sayer starts work October 3rd.
