Idaho Lawmakers Move Forward On Tax Cuts But Where's The Grocery Tax Repeal?

Feb 9, 2018

Week five of the Idaho Legislature saw a lot of action in committees and on the House Floor. Big ticket issues were addressed, including a combination tax cut and tax conformity bill.

A proposal to help more people in Idaho’s coverage gap get health insurance also made progress.

Boise State Political Science Professor Gary Moncrief has been watching all the action at the Statehouse and one thing he tells Samantha Wright he’s looking for is the re-emergence of a bill to cut the sales tax on groceries amid such a busy time for lawmakers.

Gary and Samantha Wright have a podcast called “Legislative Breakdown.” We pick apart the Idaho Legislature each week to find out how it affects YOU -- and this week listen to our special episode taped before a live audience. Find “Legislative Breakdown” every Friday in iTunes, in the NPR One app and here.
