The Idaho and Montana chapters of the breast cancer organization Susan G. Komen are merging.
MTN reports the Boise-based group is merging with the Helena, Montana-based group in June. The merged foundation will be called Susan G. Komen Idaho Montana.
The merged organization will share leadership and fundraising resources to serve both states.
“We know that addressing the gap in breast cancer services in rural communities across Idaho and Montana will make the greatest impact. We have a strong commitment to the people of Idaho," Dr. Mark Wigod, the current board president of Komen Idaho, said.
"For that reason, it made great sense to us to expand our service territory to the entire state and to combine our resources to support our neighbors in Montana. Together we can strengthen our presence throughout the two states," he added. - MTN News
The organizations' signature annual event “Race for the Cure” is scheduled for May 9 in Boise.
