Idaho National Guard Soldiers Back In The U.S. After 9 Months In Afghanistan
Nearly 60 Idaho Army National Guard Soldiers returned to the U.S. late Saturday night after a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan. They’re charter flight took them to Ft. Hood, Texas where they were greeted by Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter, Idaho Adjutant General Gary L. Sayler, and Command Sgt. Major Kenneth Downing.
The soldiers are part of Company A, 1-168 General Support Aviation Battalion. They conducted Army aviation flight operations as part of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
"You can feel the freedom in the air. Can't you just feel the freedom bubbling around you?" explained Specialist Jason Broadway when he reached Texas.
Many of the soldiers are from the Treasure Valley. They will be at Ft. Hood for about a week before returning to Idaho.
