Rousing Sermon Belmont Run Still Undecided

May 24, 2012

Race horse Rousing Sermon may, or may not, run in the Belmont Stakes in June.  The horse was raised at the Tree Top Ranch in Parma.  He became a favorite of Idaho fans when he ran in the Kentucky Derby, where he came in 8th.  He skipped the Preakness, and now his trainers are trying to decide if he’ll give Belmont a go.

Tree Top Ranch Horse Manager Dan Kiser says right now, Rousing Sermon is at home in California. “He’s currently in training at Hollywood Park,” says Kiser.  “He worked a half mile last Friday and he’ll work again this Friday, 3/4 of a mile and so we are considering the Belmont Stakes . But we haven’t really made that determination yet.”

Kiser says the final decision is up to Rousing Sermon’s trainer. That depends on how well the horse is doing and who else will run in the Belmont June 9th.  He expects a decision on whether to run the horse in the next week.
