Staff and volunteers at a Treasure Valley dog rescue center will spend 24 hours inside kennels with dogs up for adoption. The idea is to show people what it’s like behind the kennel door.

The event is called “Through Their Eyes,” and is the brainchild of Jessica Ewing, Executive Director at Meridian Canine Rescue.

“So we’ll start to kind of see, through the dogs' eyes so to speak, what a day looks like for them,” says Ewing.

The city of Pocatello says the entire population of cats at its animal shelter will be euthanized to stop the spread of an upper respiratory infection outbreak.

The Pocatello Animal Shelter says officials last month noticed a number of cats at the shelter with symptoms. Animal services director Mary Remer says the cats did not respond to about a week of treatment.

After consulting with local veterinarians and the Idaho Humane Society, officials say they determined that all the cats were infected and that it was necessary to euthanize them.

Margaret Boucher's beloved Border Collie mix is living with another family after a series of mishaps, and she says she desperately needs her friend back.

The Times-News reports that the dog, Hazel, ran away while temporarily staying in a friend's home and was picked up by animal control, then adopted by a new family -- all before Boucher even knew the dog went missing.

The Twins Falls woman says Hazel was not only a beloved canine friend but also a medical assistant.
