The Treasure Valley is replete with local joints offering the classic triad of burgers, shakes and fries. Westside Drive-In, Fanci-Freez and the Big Bun Drive-In leap to mind. While these places are uniquely Idaho, residents of the Gem State say they want iconic southern California chain In-N-Out Burger to bring their take on the burger shack trinity to the Gem State.

Take one look at famous fine dining chef David Chang's Instagram feed and you can tell the guy has a thing for high-and-low brow combinations. In one picture this May, Chang was eating some greasy potato chips accompanied by a luxurious tin of caviar.

Turns out, the chef is a big fan of an Idaho food captured in this photo – but no – we aren't talking about potatoes.

Apparently, Vogue is really into Idaho these days.

The formidable magazine published an online article titled “Why Boise, Idaho, Is a Growing Culinary Hotspot.” The piece, written by Jen Murphy, gives an overview of some of the well-loved local spots in the Capital City. Among them: Guru Donuts, the Basque Marketplace, Red Feather Lounge and State & Lemp.

The Treefort Music Festival is preparing for what will likely be its biggest year since it began in 2012. And as it grows, new elements of the festival continue to emerge.  This year attendees will see another branch of the festival with a focus on food issues.  Tara Morgan is one of the organizers of Foodfort. She says that aspect of the festival will feature two components.

“For the taste component we have 10 local chefs that are utilizing mostly local ingredients to create small plates, and then talks which is a series of panels and discussions related to food,” Morgan said.
