Report: More Idaho Children Live In Poverty, Education Outcomes Slide

The number of Idaho kids living in poverty has risen to 21 percent, that's a 3 percent increase since 2005. That means at least 87,000 Idaho children were living in poverty in 2012. The poverty statistic is just one of the findings in the annual Kids Count report from the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

Little Change In National 12th-Grade Math, Reading Scores

Score gains for math and reading among high school seniors in 11 pilot states.

Idaho Teacher Pay For Performance: Research Vs. Experience

Tuesday Idahoan’s will vote on propositions 1, 2, and 3. Those ask if the state should keep the controversial education laws known as Students Come First. The laws limit collective bargaining rights and seek to increase technology use in schools. One of the laws also creates a pay for performance plan where teachers can earn bonuses. Now that law has drawn criticism from an unexpected source.

Stepping Up For Kids

A new report out today says one in every eleven children will spend a portion of their lives without their parents, living instead with a relative.  That number is growing both in the U-S and in Idaho.  These kids often don’t get all the services that are available to them.  The study hopes to change that.
