Project To Recharge Aquifers With Columbia River Water

There’s not enough water in eastern Oregon for farmers and fish. Governor John Kitzhaber designated one basin as a place to try a possible solution to this problem.

Farmers and environmentalists talked about what’s being done at the Oregon Leadership Summit Monday. 

In some areas of the Umatilla Basin, aquifers have dropped 500 feet since the 1970s. But some farmers and environmentalists say they’ve come up with a better way to manage the area’s water supply.

Care Groups Line Up To Receive Oregon Health Dollars

The state of Oregon wants to reshape the way it provides medical services to low income people in rural parts of the state. And it’s getting a robust response from health care providers. Before a deadline this week, state health administrators received more than 50 proposals to create regional collaborations. The strategy is part of what Oregon’s Governor is calling a health-care transformation.
