A number of rural Idaho school districts are struggling to lure licensed teachers to classrooms causing the districts to hire more unlicensed educators.

The Times-News reported on Sunday that the Twin Falls School District hired 20 unlicensed educators this year as other nearby districts are also hiring more unlicensed teachers.

Some eastern Idaho school districts are hiring new teachers to train the old teachers.

The Post Register reports the Idaho Falls School District and the Bonneville Joint School District are among those hiring instructional coaches, who help educate fellow teachers on new strategies and resources for the classroom.

Teacher preparation programs at Idaho universities were on par with the rest of the country in a new study. But the country as a whole did terribly. The National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ) looked at more than 1,000 teacher education programs around the U.S.
