College Tuition Hikes Approved For Idaho Schools

The Idaho State Board of Education has approved tuition increases.

The board on Wednesday approved an increase of 4 percent at the University of Idaho and Boise State University.

Idaho State University will see a 3.5 percent increase and Lewis-Clark State College a 2 percent increase.

The increases mean full-time students at the University of Idaho will pay $6,784 a year and Boise State students will pay $6,640.

Idaho State University tuition rises to $6,566, while tuition at Lewis-Clark State College jumps to $5,900.

Tuition Increases Approved For Idaho Universities

Idaho public university students can expect a higher price tag on their tuition bills next fall.

The state Board of Education voted Wednesday to hike tuition at all four public universities — though not all university presidents got exactly what they requested.

Trustees approved a 6.9 percent hike at Boise State University and increases between 4 and 5 percent for the University of Idaho, Idaho State University and Lewis-Clark State College.

Not Many Undocumented Students In Oregon Expected To Use In-State Tuition

SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon House has approved a controversial bill that would allow undocumented immigrants to qualify for in-state college tuition rates. Supporters called Friday’s vote historic. But not very many students are expected to actually take advantage of the measure.

BYU Idaho Makes Lowest Tuition List

The U.S. Department of Education has published new lists of the most and least expensive colleges. Idaho’s public colleges and universities don't make these lists. But in the category of private, not for profit, four year schools, Brigham Young University Idaho shows up with the 8th lowest tuition at $3,660 a year.

The University of Phoenix’s Idaho campus makes the lowest tuition list in for-profit schools. Its yearly tuition is $9,840s.

State Board Vote: Idaho University Students Will Pay More Next Fall

Idaho’s Board of Education gave the state’s universities the go ahead Wednesday to raise tuition. This spring a full time student at Boise State University paid nearly $2,800 in tuition and fees, a little more at the University of Idaho.

“Right now in total student tuition and fees they’re paying $2,928. They will be paying 3,106,” says Keith Ickes the University of Idaho’s budget director. He says that tuition increase will start this fall thanks to Wednesday’s State Board of Education decision. The University asked for and got permission to raise tuition by 6.1 percent.

Idaho Universities Want To Raise Tuition, Again

Wednesday Idaho’s universities will ask the State Board of Education to raise student tuition. Meanwhile, the state has already signed off on an increase to higher education for the first time in several years. The universities say that financial boost doesn’t cover operating expenses.
